One design aspect that cannot be overlooked is the design of the HX Edit software.

The Helix gives me the ability to create tones that I could never achieve with my one amp, three guitars, and pedalboard. After a few weeks, I still find myself editing it on the pedal most of the time rather than using the editing software because it’s so simple. amzn_assoc_ad_type = "smart";

However, that needs to be balanced against the sheer amount of sounds and the switching/routing flexibility of the Helix LT, not to mention that it’s probably more easily portable and less messy. More affordable than the Helix it may be, but a little more than £900 is still a lot of money to shell out on a single item of gear - and we know that there will be many players out there who could/would just not entertain the possibility of owning one. Now, Line 6 is seeking a wider audience for its HX modelling by introducing a more affordable version, the Helix LT, which comes in at around three quarters of the price. Not having the extra inputs and scribble strips wasn’t a deal breaker for me. It had to sound good but also be easy to adjust for any sound I needed. Hopefully this review will help you decide if the Line 6 Helix LT deserves your hard-earned money. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); There are some other great units available such as the Kemper and Axe-FX but the Helix stood out to me.

Look out for a post about Native in the future. The others sounded great but they didn’t seem as flexible and as easy to edit.

Of course, the Helix makes both options available. Honestly, I think it’s the most user-friendly amp simulator or multi-effects pedal I’ve ever tried. If you’re like me and love exploring new sounds and experimenting with different tone combinations then go get yourself a Helix LT now.

I really do love it and I can’t imagine going back to lugging a giant pedalboard (and amp) from gig to gig. You can tell Line 6 have put a lot of thought and effort into creating a quality unit. It’s very solid and looks great. No, I will leave that for another day. The answer to all these questions is a resounding YES! It is super easy to navigate through the various banks of tones and tweak individual parameters. I’ll be rating the Helix LT in four categories: design, tones, usability, and value. I just haven’t had the time to experiment with them yet.

So far, the sound and usability have more than convinced me the price is worth every penny.

The Helix family is really Line 6’s pride and joy.

It’s a bit smaller and cleaner. Copyright © 2019 | In a way, the LT is more impressive in terms of its onboard sonic flexibility than the original Helix was at launch, due to a recent firmware upgrade that saw all Helix models get 62 amps, 37 cabs, 16 mics and 104 effects. Then the next time I connect, the software would update the hardware with my latest addition. And now that I have owned this unit for a few months, I can definitely say that I have yet to run out of inputs. It’s a bit smaller and cleaner. Unlike the original Helix, the Helix LT is limited to only eight assignable footswitches to control your various effects, settings, and snapshots. Also gone are the CV output, dedicated external amp switching and S/PDIF digital connections, although external amp switching is possible through the single expression pedal socket (down from two). Disregarding the amp simulations and recording/practicing facilities, let’s purely look at the effects and compare it with a typical pedalboard.

Okay, so the LT may have lost some of the functionality of its bigger, more expensive sibling, but it still has the exact same sound and easy operation, which includes quick and intuitive editing directly from the front panel or the computer-based software editor.

And if you’re aware of the Helix, you’ll know that the sound quality and the sheer range of tones on offer here is extremely impressive. Obviously, certain facilities have had to be sacrificed to make the necessary cost savings in this iteration, but the designers seem to be right on the ball in focusing on and retaining the essentials.

As I mentioned in the design section, Line 6 put together a very easy to use, intuitive interface for their Helix products. I wanted to get the best amp modeller/simulator I could because I don’t plan on upgrading it any time soon. Lastly, I’m not worried about how the Helix performs against the amps and effects it’s modeling.

It is their most malleable, fastest processing and most true to life sounding iteration and continues to be locked in heated battle with products like AxeFX and Kemper Modelers for best in show. Now, Line 6 is seeking a wider audience for its HX modelling by introducing a more affordable version, the Helix LT, which comes in at around three quarters of the price. When Line 6 brought out the original Helix in 2015, we applauded it as the most advanced floor processor we’d yet seen and a definite step up, sound-wise, from the company’s HD series. I’m extremely satisfied with my Helix LT, in fact I just sold my main amp and M13 this week (I still have my AMPLIFi for now).
