I decided to get one of these since recording acoustic guitar (and having it sound good!) So, you guys at Boss PLEASE work on this one. Choice #2 is this little box. The Boss AC-3 Acoustic Simulator is an analog guitar pedal designed to make your electric guitar sound like an acoustic guitar. But likes what he has tried so far. This is Boss's newest edition to the acoustic simulator. I have owned this pedal for 2 months now and must admit it is terrible. I expected better quality from Boss. However you have to understand if you are playing acoustic-electric you are sitting on top of that sound hole in the guitar. don't go through the trouble of using a power supply unit. Then connected "LINE OUT" to a Donner Noise Killer ($31 on Amazon), then the out of the Donner to my acoustic amp.

This is absolutely the worst "acoustic simulator" I have ever heard.
If you are wanting to get pretty much in the ballpark for a great majority of songs and not wanting to haul that acoustic around, etc.
It's a bit expensive for what you get, but once you experiment with it you can really use it for some interesting stuff. Perhaps I'll discover a way to make it sound better in time. That being said, its really a gas (as our british fellows would say) to use my les paul black beauty or my fender strat and make it, in a sense, sound like a gibson hummingbird or so we'd hope so. I found that this pedal works best with a full range PA speaker. Yep, its that bad.Save your money folks. I can't get past that twangy sound; and, I'm not in a position right now to purchase another guitar. Unless you are on par with Roy Clark, AND the coffee houses you play are paying enough to justify the scratch of the high-end acoustic guitar, the AC-3 makes the most sense. I think the reason some reviewers are disappointed in the pedal is that their expectation level was WAY too high. I've also found that going through the "line out" jack into another pedal on my board gives a lot more sparkle to the sound than going through the guitar amp output jack. i try to keep my rig really simple as much as possible and please use 9 volt batteries. Humbuckers tend to drive it too hard. Could be used in a pinch. It sounds best put through "line out" into a PA but gives a nice effect to an electric guitar through a guitar amp. What an awful sound it produces. the older ones ARE MUCH BETTER.
There is a pretty vast array of tonal options, and the construction is typical Boss -- rugged, compact and durable. Buy a cheap acoustic guitar instead.
