I did not realize he was in poor health even in the kind message he left. You will never be forgotten. Bob was the faculty advisor for World Missions/Christian Fellowship at Messiah for years, and I was involved the whole time I was a student there. As I recently told a friend, Bob's greatest lesson to me was the example he set of the kind of person I want to be - selfless, relentless in faith, prayer and spreading the good Word of God. I remember him praying for me at the alter during a very difficult time period in my life. I've known Bob for sooo many years. He was so respectful me and always called me Pastor. He was such a wonderful man! I am sad to see he has passed, but I am glad to know I will see him again one day. He always was a friendly, smiling face at Christian Life Assembly. Bob was a great mentor to many and a fine Christian example of Christ like servitude. He always always always had a kind word to say to you and never once did I see any anger in his spirit. This week the world lost a mighty man of God, Bob Barrett, but heaven gained another voice of high praise to our Savior Jesus (Darlene Zeigler, thanks for the CLA picture of Bob in worship on Facebook). Bob was a significant part of our Messiah years. I'm so sorry for your loss. Mr. Barrett was such a great man and I have many fond memories of him from my time at Grantham BIC Church in my youth. You worship the God who created you. Always positive and a witness for the Lord.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joanne Lenhert Barrett, his children Linda, Robert, and David Barrett along with their spouses, and his beloved 8 grandchildren. I think every conversation I have ever had with him had some encouragement in it; and it usually included a kayaking invitation.
Bob quickly became a wonderful friend who would always stop what he was doing to pray with and for me. The world has experienced a loss. Bob was a fine friend and dedicated Christian who inspired me to do well in the dramas with him. He was a professor of physics and computer science at Messiah University, beginning in 1966 until his retirement to adjunct status in 2008. Last year Bob led over 250 kayaking trips, sometimes even two trips in one day. Bob was born in Glen Cove, New York, the son of Clifton Waller and Cornelia Hughes Barrett and lived much of his youth in New York City. I haven't had much contact for decades but it just seemed reassuring that there was a Bob Barrett in the world. Bob was a significant part of our Messiah years.
